Director of Safety & Compliance

Northumberland Ferries Limited is seeking a Director of Safety and Compliance based in Halifax. This role focuses on safety, regulatory compliance, and enhancing operational security.

As the senior leader in safety and security, you will report directly to the Vice President of Administration. Your responsibilities encompass the management of the Safety Management System, leading investigations, and supporting cybersecurity initiatives. This strategic position allows you to reinforce safety culture across marine operations while ensuring compliance with key maritime regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and improve the Safety Management System (SMS)

• Ensure ISM Code and regulatory compliance

• Conduct audits, inspections, and incident investigations

• Monitor safety trends across operations

• Oversee marine security and risk management strategies

Requirements:

• Degree in a related field or marine certification

• Minimum 10 years of leadership experience

• Deep understanding of safety regulations

• Strong analytical and communication skills

• Proven capability to lead teams effectively
