Position: Director of SOX Compliance at Upwork
Lead and enhance SOX compliance initiatives with Upwork Inc. as the Director of SOX Compliance. This role emphasizes risk assessment, control documentation, and a strong collaboration across finance and engineering.

As a key leadership position, you'll own Upwork's Sarbanes–Oxley program, ensuring rigorous internal controls over financial reporting. With over 10 years of experience in internal audit or compliance, you'll direct a dedicated team, partner with executive leadership, and liaise with external auditors. Your insights will be essential in continuous improvement of compliance processes across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute annual SOX 404 compliance program, including testing and remediation

• Improve ICFR framework, ensuring alignment with PCAOB standards

• Lead the SOX steering committee, presenting to senior leadership

• Direct control design and remediation via AI tools

• Oversee IT general control testing across financial systems

Requirements:

• 10+ years in internal audit or SOX compliance

• 3+ years in a leadership role, CPA required

• Experience with PCAOB standards and integrated audits

• Familiarity with AI tools for compliance documentation

• Background in technology or marketplace business models
