Job Description
AECOM Environment team is looking for an Environmental Scientist to assist in environmental investigation programs such as environmental drilling investigation, soil, groundwater and soil vapour sampling. This role will be based in Halifax, NS.

Key Responsibilities

Perform a variety of tasks in support of project staff.

Gather and maintain records of scientific data for the supervisor, including environmental sampling, operations, maintenance and inspections at client sites.

Assist with calculations, set up and operate equipment, inspect equipment and installations for compliance with specifications, and maintain proper project documentation.

Collect and enter data, applying technical principles and theories under supervision.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a related field and 4 years of related experience.

Willingness to travel within the province/country for work, including extended travel.

Valid and unrestricted driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of knowledge/experience in environmental investigation.

Experience with groundwater monitoring – purging and sample collection from monitoring wells.

Experience with drilling – environmental drilling, ground disturbance procedures, soil description and monitoring well installation.

Experience with soil sampling – field screening, soil sample collection procedures.

Ability to take organized, detailed field notes and record observations.

Strong safety awareness – leading and participating in field meetings, overseeing subcontractors, contributing to and following safe work practices, developing and implementing safety plans.

Strong teamwork, good listening skills, and ability to work well with others.

Excellent attention to detail and a thorough approach to work.

Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.

Flexibility and strong work ethic.

Physical ability to work outdoors in inclement weather, walk long distances in rugged terrain, and carry up to 50 lb of equipment.

Compensation
Canadian dollars 75 000 – 95 000 per year, based on education, qualifications, experience, and location.
