Nova Scotia (Travel Throughout Atlantic Canada)
Salary: $65,000–$73,000 per year
Design 1 is seeking an experienced Environmental Technician to join our growing consulting team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, travelling, and solving technical challenges in a variety of environments.
This is primarily a field-based position , with the majority of your time spent at project sites rather than in the office. While field work is the primary focus, the role also includes preparing reports and maintaining accurate project documentation.
Frequent travel, overnight stays, and extended periods on the road are a regular part of this position. Flexibility and a willingness to travel throughout Atlantic Canada are essential.
Responsibilities
Conduct environmental field investigations and inspections.
Perform asbestos, mould, indoor air quality, and hazardous materials assessments.
Complete air monitoring, clearance testing, and occupational exposure monitoring.
Collect environmental samples in accordance with established standards and procedures.
Operate, calibrate, and maintain environmental monitoring equipment.
Prepare accurate field notes, technical reports, and project documentation.
Communicate professionally with clients, contractors, and project managers.
Follow company quality assurance procedures and applicable health and safety regulations.
Qualifications
Required
Minimum 5 years of environmental consulting or related field experience .
Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Environmental Science or a related discipline, or an Environmental Technician Diploma.
Strong technical writing and report preparation skills.
Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driving record.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Willingness to travel extensively throughout Atlantic Canada, including overnight trips when required.
Assets
Experience in asbestos consulting and abatement oversight.
Experience with mould investigations, indoor air quality assessments, or occupational hygiene.
Experience operating environmental monitoring and sampling equipment.
Experience using power tools and working safely on active construction or remediation sites.
Professional certifications related to environmental consulting or occupational hygiene.
