Hands-On Mechanic

Position: Hands-On Mechanic at Via
Join Via as a Mechanic to ensure our transit buses and support vehicles operate efficiently. This hands-on role requires diagnosing mechanical issues and conducting preventive maintenance on-site.

As part of Via’s Operations team, you will work directly with transit vehicles, performing critical repairs and maintenance. This in-person position requires flexibility for occasional evening and weekend shifts. The ideal candidate should have at least two years of vocational automotive experience, particularly with medium/heavy-duty vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive maintenance on transit vehicles

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues effectively

• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections

• Respond to roadside breakdowns and troubleshoot issues

• Maintain accurate service records for each vehicle

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years in vehicle maintenance

• Hands-on problem-solving skills in a workshop

• Comfort with diagnostic tools and technical manuals

• Valid driver's license and high school diploma

• ASE certifications preferred, CDL Class B a plus
