Winter Equipment Operator Positions in Nova Scotia

The Nova Scotia Department of Public Works is hiring Spare Winter Equipment Operators across multiple locations. This part-time role includes thorough training in snow and ice control operations in Kings County.

Candidates will participate in an initial two weeks of paid training, followed by substantial hands-on experience in snowplow operation. This spare position requires flexibility, as hours depend on weather and needs during the winter season.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the operation of snow removal vehicles

• Carry out inspections and maintenance tasks

• Record daily logs of equipment usage

• Help with general road maintenance and signage

• Opt into the Winter Wage Guarantee for consistent pay

Requirements:

• At least two years of relevant experience or training

• Class III license with required air brake endorsement

• Competence in reading and writing for documentation

• Mechanical skills or training is beneficial

• Ability to adapt to unpredictable weather
