Teacher Aide (Part-Time)
Job DescriptionProvides tutorial and general program assistance in the development and supervision of program participants' tutorial/educational needs, including enrichment and character building initiatives, various prevention projects and initiatives, and special events. Receives supervision and guidance from certified teachers and teacher assistants in the delivery of effective instruction. Work is performed under close supervision with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED; supplemented by one year of more years' experience and/or training working with school age children; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience. Must have National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification (level to be determined by job classification requirements), or obtain within one year of employment. Must have or be able to obtain CPR and basic first aid training and Florida Department of Children and Families required early childhood education, teacher assistant, and/or childhood development associate certifications within one year of start date.
In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions in order to perform this job successfully.
Additional InformationIn order to move on to the next phase of the application screening process, you must attach proof of education. Applicants who demonstrate they meet the minimum requirements may be subject to an extensive selection process and screening program, which may include, but not limited to, evaluation of training and experience; background investigation; medical evaluation; controlled substance screening. Applicants are required to sign an affidavit for non-use of tobacco products in order to be considered for employment.

Critical Care and Hospital Confinement Protection. Participation in the Florida Retirement System (FRS) is mandatory for all eligible General employees. The FRS offers eligible employees an option between a Pension Plan and an Investment Plan. General Employees are classified in the Regular Service Class and as of July 1, 2019, the mandatory employee contribution rate is 3% of salary regardless of which plan is chosen.
The City makes available a deferred compensation plan (Mission Square 457 plan), for which the employee may voluntarily contribute to on a pre-tax basis. No employer contributions are made.
