Assistant City Engineer
Under limited supervision, performs professional civil engineering work in the design, inspection, construction and maintenance of public works and utilities projects and facilities. Also coordinates and reviews design and construction of private projects to ensure compatibility with City ordinances and facilities. Is responsible for closely inspecting projects under construction and ensuring existing facilities are maintained in accordance with the proper engineering practices and techniques.
Reports to City Engineer. If hired, candidate will receive a $10,000.00 bonus split up as follows: $2,000.00 after 30 days of employment - $4,000.00 after obtaining a satisfactory rating on the first annual evaluation - $4,000.00 after obtaining a satisfactory rating on the second annual evaluation.
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Florida.
Five (5) years of progressively responsible engineering experience in either design and construction of highways, streets, water distribution, waste water collection, site development, or other public works projects; and four (4) years of responsible supervisory experience in the design and construction of capital and public works projects; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
Must have National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification (level to be determined by job classification requirements), or obtain within one year of employment
