Performance Engineer at Collins Aerospace Landing Gear
As a Performance Engineer at Collins Aerospace Landing Gear, you will help ensure the safety, reliability and performance of advanced landing gear systems supporting commercial and military aerospace missions. Your work in Loads and Dynamics will be critical to meeting industry and customer standards and advancing aerospace innovation.
Location:
Onsite, Haltom City, TX. Relocation assistance available.
- Develop and maintain dynamics system models and simulation software to support landing gear systems.
- Perform static and dynamic loads analyses, including landing impact simulations, retraction/extension modeling, and evaluation of dynamic design criteria to ensure compliance with industry and customer standards.
- Establish, document, and validate test criteria for landing gear development, including analyzing test data and correlating with analytical models.
- Support quality investigations, in-service performance assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with internal teams (stress, design, quality, test), external customers, and suppliers to ensure technical alignment and program success.
- Willingness to travel occasionally (less than 10%).
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
- MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent.
- Understanding of kinematics, dynamics of machinery, fluid dynamics, and/or control theory.
- Familiarity with coding and simulation environments.
- Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
- Experience in landing gear development, aerospace systems, or dynamic loads environments.
- Multi‑body dynamics (MBD) analysis tools, such as Adams.
- CATIA V5 or other CAD/CAM software.
- Experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) (highly preferred).
- Experience with analysis tools such as Mathcad, Nastran, or Abaqus.
- Integrated Development Environment (IDE) software and version control systems such as Git.
- Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, such as Team Center (basic knowledge).
- Experience with building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.
- Experience managing competing priorities and maintaining schedules in a decentralized work environment.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD.
