Failure Analysis Engineer

Failure Analysis Engineer opportunity in Fort Worth, TX. This is a full-time permanent position offering $65,000 annually and is open to recent graduates with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. Candidates with a Master's degree are highly encouraged to apply.

Job Purpose:

  • The Failure Analysis Engineer is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and resolving product failures to enhance product reliability and performance. This role involves conducting thorough investigations into product defects, developing solutions to prevent recurrence, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement improvements. The engineer will play a critical role in ensuring product quality and customer satisfaction by systematically addressing issues and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed failure analysis on electronic components and systems to identify root causes of defects and malfunctions.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to assess product failures and generate comprehensive reports.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to develop corrective actions and preventive measures.
  • Implement and manage failure analysis processes and methodologies to ensure consistent and accurate results.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including engineering teams and management, to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of analysis procedures, findings, and corrective actions for future reference and continuous improvement.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in failure analysis techniques and technologies.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and projects to support product development and enhancement efforts.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and technicians in the failure analysis process.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies in all failure analysis activities.

Required

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. A Master's degree or higher is preferred.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in failure analysis within the electronics or semiconductor industry.
  • Proven track record of conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to resolve product failures.
  • Experience with advanced analytical techniques such as Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX), and X-ray Fluorescence (XRF).
  • Familiarity with reliability testing and environmental stress screening methods.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and software tools related to failure analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical information to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to failure analysis and quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated ability to document findings and prepare comprehensive technical reports.
