A. O. Smith seeks a Product Engineer to design and improve residential and commercial water heating and treatment products in a global manufacturing environment. In this role, you will translate customer and market requirements into robust designs, 3D models, and specifications, partnering closely with manufacturing, quality, and sourcing to ensure safe, cost-effective, and reliable products. You will lead testing and validation, analyze field and performance data, and drive continuous improvement using structured problem-solving.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop water heating and treatment products and components for manufacturing
- Translate customer and market requirements into product specifications and engineering documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on product validation, testing, and reliability improvements
- Support new product introductions, including tooling, process capability, and design-for-manufacturability
- Analyze product performance data and drive continuous improvement in cost, quality, and safety
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements
- Troubleshoot product and field issues and implement robust engineering solutions
- Prepare engineering drawings, models, BOMs, and technical reports using CAD and PLM tools
- Participate in design reviews, FMEAs, and risk assessments
- Partner with operations and suppliers to optimize materials, components, and production methods
Required Skills
- Mechanical design and analysis3

- Works, Creo, or similar)
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA) basics
- Design for manufacturability (DFM/DFA)
