Summary

Responsible for the day-to-day assigned tasks under the supervision and direction of a licensed journeyman plumber, which may include assisting with general plumbing duties, layout, assembly, installations, alterations, diagnostics, repairs and maintenance of commercial plumbing systems and equipment, according to company standards, specifications and plumbing codes by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, repairing pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures, or plumbing systems according to specifications or plumbing codes.
  • Develops general knowledge of required trade tools and materials.
  • Reduces the likelihood for liability by following proper construction practices, OSHA safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Loads, unloads, transports, and furnishes materials, tools, equipment, and supplies for the purpose of ensuring availability required at jobsite.
  • Assists in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.
  • Maintains a clean jobsite and picks up materials, tools, equipment and supplies each day to minimize potential hazards.
  • Assembles and dissebles ladders, scaffolding, and other temporary structures.
  • Operates hand, powered, measuring tools, and gauges needed to install or service, equipment or system.
  • Maintains all supplies of inventory and notifies supervisor of low quantities.
  • Maintains tools and or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of plumbing systems in safe operating condition.*
  • Coordinates with supervisor and other trades in completing projects efficiently.
  • Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Reports all incidents, near misses, or injuries to the supervisor.
  • Performs all other duties as directed or assigned.

Language Ability

Ability to read and write in English and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math Ability

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates and Licenses
  • Apprentice card obtained 30 days from date of employment
  • Valid driver’s license or government issued identification
Equipment
  • All tools and equipment of the trade
  • Must own, or be able to purchase, prior to completion of introductory period, basic tools of the trade
