Schools is seeking a creative and reliable Social Media Specialist Volunteer to strengthen our digital presence and help us consistently communicate our mission, programs, and opportunities. This volunteer will help increase visibility with schools, families, artists, donors, and community partners through strategic content, clear messaging, and compelling visuals.
This is an ideal role for someone building a portfolio in nonprofit marketing, communications, or content strategy, or a professional who wants to donate their skills to an organization serving students through the arts.
Key Responsibilities- Create and schedule weekly social media content (posts, stories, short-form announcements)
- Draft captions that align with Arts4
Schools’ voice and calls-to-action (booking, volunteering, artist recruitment, donations) - Design simple, polished graphics using Canva (templates provided or created together)
- Support promotion of programs, performances, and recruitment needs (artists, interns, volunteers)
- Repurpose existing content (photos, flyers, testimonials, school updates) into engaging posts
- Track basic performance metrics (reach, engagement) and recommend improvements
- Maintain a simple content calendar and ensure consistent posting
Platforms (based on your strengths)
Instagram, Facebook, Linked In, and/or Tik Tok. We will prioritize the platforms that best match your skills and our current needs.
Qualifications- Experience managing or creating content for social media (personal portfolio, internship, volunteer, or professional)
- Strong writing skills and attention to detail (clear, professional captions)
- Basic design ability in Canva (or similar)
- Ability to follow brand guidelines and work with feedback
- Familiarity with nonprofit, education, arts, or community-based messaging is a plus
- A clear weekly workflow and priorities
- Access to program information, photos/flyers (as available), and brand assets
- Guidance on messaging and approvals so content stays aligned and accurate
- Opportunities to build measurable portfolio outcomes and impact
