PACT MSO has a busy Gastroenterology office that is seeking a Physician Assistant. Medical Authorization Specialist work Monday through Friday and the position will be in Hamden. The hours range between 8:00am to 4:30pm for 8 hour shifts.
Summary
The position is responsible for the delivery of patient care in their area of specialty through the process of assessment, evaluation, diagnosing, recognition and prevention of adverse event, planning, and implementation. They collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure safe, effective and efficient patient care delivery, and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.
Essential Functions
- Provide medical examination, care, and treatment to patients and document in EHR. Review medical histories and progress of patients provided. Examine, diagnosis, and treat patients or prescribe a course of treatment.
- Continuously monitors quality patient care through excellence in customer service and performance improvement that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.
- Perform duties that are normal to the scope of that provider’s particular specialty and for which privileges are granted.
- Abide by all facility rules, regulations, and policies.
- Initiate requests for tests, x-rays, and admissions to the medical treatment facility, as appropriate.
- Follow-up on abnormal reports. Abnormal x-ray and lab reports received on patients.
- Prescribe medications, as appropriate, in accordance with the privileges and guidelines.
- Recommend appropriate referrals in accordance with PACT policies and regulations.
- Attend and participate in meetings, conferences, etc.
