Job Description:
As Special Education Teacher, you will:
* Plan and deliver instructional activities tailored to students' individual needs and IEP goals.
* Assess academic strengths and challenges to guide instruction.
* Teach core academic subjects (English, Math, Language Arts, Science, Health, Reading, Social Studies, Life Skills).
* Prepare and implement IEPs, quarterly benchmarks, and progress reports.
* Ensure compliance with PPT recommendations, IEP timelines, and state/federal special education regulations.
* Create a safe, structured, and engaging classroom environment through consistent routines and positive behavior support.
* Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and the treatment team.
* Participate in PPTs, case conferences, treatment team meetings, and staff development.
* Maintain accurate records, substitute plans, and timely reports.
* Demonstrate sensitivity and cultural awareness with all students and families.
* Perform other duties as assigned to support program success.
What We're Looking For
* Holds or is immediately eligible to obtain Connecticut Special Education Certification (#165, #265, or #065).
* If not certified, eligibility for a Durational Shortage Area Permit (DSAP) will be considered.
* Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field required;
Master's preferred.
* Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and adapt instruction for diverse learners.
* Strong knowledge of IEP development, compliance, and special education laws.
* Excellent classroom management and student engagement skills.
* Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with families and interdisciplinary teams.

Work Environment Requirements
* Ability to perform light to moderate lifting, standing, walking, bending, and other physical tasks as needed.
* Potential exposure to bodily fluids and other environmental hazards in a school-based setting
