Overview

Make a real difference in students lives as a Special Education Teacher supporting K-2nd grade learners in a full-time, self-contained autism program. This contract position offers several openings for the  school year, presenting a rewarding opportunity to provide individualized instruction and care to young students in a supportive educational environment located near Hamden, CT.

• Valid Special Education teaching certification appropriate for K-2nd grade
• Experience working with early elementary students, preferably in self-contained or autism-specific classrooms
• Strong understanding of best practices and interventions for students with autism spectrum disorder
• Ability to develop and deliver differentiated instruction tailored to diverse learning needs
• Collaborative attitude, able to work positively with other educators, specialists, and families
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Commitment to fostering a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment

• Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for each student
• Provide direct instruction and behavioral support using evidence-based strategies
• Collaborate regularly with paraprofessionals, therapists, service providers, and families to support student progress and well-being
• Collect and monitor data to inform instruction and modify approaches as needed
• Establish consistent classroom routines and maintain a positive, structured atmosphere
• Participate in trainings, team meetings, and professional development relevant to autism and special education
