Job Title:

PPS Specialist

Quali?cations:

1. Current Connecticut certi?cation

2. Minimum of three (3) years' experience in public schools as a School Psychologist, Social Worker, Speech Language Pathologist or Special Education Teacher

Examples of Responsibilities:

* Coordinate PPT's for Hamden students who attend magnet or charter schools or students with IEP's who attend specialized programs and schools such as but not limited to ACES and High Road Student Learning Center

* Assure that all procedures and timelines are followed for the proper implementation of student's IEP's

* Update IEPs as appropriate using CTSEDS

* Collaborate with staff of magnet or charter schools or the specialized programs and schools to insure proper implantation of child ?nd and or IEP's

* Collaborate with Hamden Public School Staff and private providers who complete evaluations with students who attend specialized programs and schools

* Collaborate with parents/guardians of students attending magnat or charter specialized schools to facilitate their input as IEP's are developed and/or modi?ed

* Collaborate with staff, district LRE Facilitator, and administrators within the school district to assure positive transitions for students who return to Hamden Public Schools when they no longer require a specialized school or program to receive FAPE or return to HPS from a magnat or charter school

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee may be required to lift, push and/or move up to 25 pounds or more, including of?ce

materials and equipment. The employee must be able to hear clearly (correctable to within normal limits) to record telephone information. The employee needs to be able to tell where a sound is coming from

in a noisy environment. Speci?c vision abilities required by this job include vision correctable to 20/20, distance vision, depth perception and peripheral vision. Adaptive technology may be used. There is stress in interacting with the public in routine as well as emergency situations.

Work Environment:

Limited exposure to illnesses. There is intermittent exposure to computer screen. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and is acceptable to this particular environment. The employee must work with public and staff, continuously meeting multiple demands from several people, sometimes in emergency situations.
