Interim Assistant Principal At Hamden High School
Hamden Public Schools is currently recruiting for the position of Assistant Principal. This individual will collaborate to plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate the daily school routine in conjunction with the principal.

Qualifications:
- Valid State of Connecticut Administrator's Certificate (092)
- A minimum of five years teaching experience, preferably at the level of the administrative position
- Demonstrated administrative knowledge and skill; at least one year of supervisory and administrative experience preferred
- Ability and competence to provide supervision to school staff
- Current research and experience-based understanding of learning theory and human motivation, developing such understanding in teachers and parents, and using that understanding to promote the continuous improvement of student learning
- Knowledge of teaching that is grounded in research and experience, and use of that knowledge to foster teacher reflection on the impact of their professional beliefs, values, and practices on student learning
- Knowledge of school law, specifically current Connecticut legislation
- Demonstrated competence in conflict resolution
Essential Performance Responsibilities:
- Promotes the success of all students by facilitating the development, articulation, implementation and stewardship of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by the district community
- Assists the principal in the overall administration of the program of the school including curriculum development and staff evaluation
- Administers a comprehensive program of studies in collaboration with teachers to support student achievement and works with staff and colleagues to establish rigorous academic standards for all students and promotes the use of multiple assessment strategies to monitor student progress
- Works with staff and colleagues to improve the quality of programs by reviewing the impact of current practices on student learning, and implementing program changes that are designed to improve learning for all students
- Actively engages members of the building or department to establish goals that encompass the district's vision of an educated person and in developing procedures to monitor the achievement of those goals
- Assists in the development and administration of student activity programs
- Participates in pupil personnel services' functions as assigned by the principal
- Assumes responsibility for various services within the school, including standardized testing and scheduling
- Administers and implements regulations and procedures pertaining to school operations
- Assists the principal in the preparation and monitoring of the school budget
- Prepares and maintains student records and completes various reports as assigned by the principal
- Works with staff to review organization and resources, and develops and implements policies and procedures to improve program effectiveness, staff productivity, and learning for all students
