Site Civil Engineer
An established civil engineering firm is seeking a Site Civil Engineer with strong experience in transportation, roadway, and traffic design. This role involves preparing and reviewing AutoCAD-based plans and specifications for public municipalities, highways, and roadway infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and perform civil and transportation design work, including site layout, grading, drainage, and roadway geometry.
- Prepare and oversee AutoCAD drawings, technical reports, and project documentation.
- Collaborate with project managers and mentor junior staff on design and production standards.
- Coordinate with municipalities and state transportation agencies on active and future infrastructure projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred (or ability to obtain in CT).
- Minimum 5–10 years of relevant civil/transportation design experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD required (Civil 3D experience highly preferred).
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with a focus on quality and mentorship.
Lead multidisciplinary teams on transportation and infrastructure improvement projects involving roadway/site/civil/drainage and related projects. Technical review and guidance for the preparation of AutoCAD drawings and specifications to create contract documents for construction, permitting requirements, and contract administration during construction. Manage project budgets and finances, schedules, and client relationships. Development of construction cost estimates. Contract preparation and the coordination of subconsultants. Mentor and direct project and staff level engineers to enhance their professional development.
Participate in proposal development, interview presentations and contract negotiations. Familiarity with Federal, State and local regulatory requirements to comply with safety, quality assurance and project delivery.
