The Innovative CPA Group is looking for a Director / Manager of Tax Controversy to join our CPA firm. This role will manage federal, state, and local tax controversy matters for individuals and businesses, including audits, notices, appeals, and dispute resolution. The ideal candidate will have strong technical tax knowledge, excellent communication skills, and experience representing clients before taxing authorities.
Responsibilities- Manage tax controversy engagements, including audits, notices, appeals, and collections matters
- Represent clients before the IRS and state taxing authorities
- Research tax issues and develop resolution strategies
- Communicate with clients and taxing authorities regarding case status and outcomes
- Review and supervise staff work, providing guidance and mentorship
- Assist with practice development and maintaining client relationships
- Stay current on tax law and regulatory changes
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- CPA , JD, or EA preferred
- 5+ years of relevant experience for Manager level; 8+ years for Director level
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax procedures
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Public accounting experience preferred
