- Perform professional facials and facial treatments customized to individual client needs and skin types
- Conduct thorough skin analysis and assessments to identify skin conditions, concerns, and treatment opportunities
- Perform hair removal services including waxing, threading, and sugaring on face and body
- Recommend appropriate skincare products and develop personalized at-home care routines for clients
- Perform facial extractions to address blackheads and congested skin safely and effectively
- Apply makeup and perform makeup applications for special events, weddings, and everyday wear
- Perform advanced treatments such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, and microneedling
- Provide body treatments including wraps, scrubs, masks, and compression treatments
- Perform lash and brow services such as tinting, lamination, extensions, and lifts
- Maintain clean, sanitized work environment and disinfect equipment before and after each procedure
- Educate clients on skincare techniques, product usage, and maintenance between appointments
- Schedule client appointments and maintain accurate treatment records and documentation
- Greet clients warmly and conduct thorough consultations to understand their goals and concerns
- Ensure compliance with all safety, sanitation, and health regulations
- Promote and sell retail skincare products to support clients' at-home regimens
- Refer clients to dermatologists or medical professionals when serious skin conditions are detected
- Stay informed on latest skincare trends, treatments, and product innovations through continuing education
Skills & Qualifications
- Valid state-issued esthetician license (required in all states except Connecticut)
- Completion of state-approved esthetician or cosmetology program
- Successfully passed state board examination (written and practical components)
- Minimum 500-600 hours of esthetics education (varies by state; some states require up to 1,500 hours)
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Comprehensive knowledge of skin types, skin conditions, and skincare ingredients
- Understanding of health, safety, sanitation, and sterilization procedures
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Exceptional attention to detail in performing treatments and assessments
- Effective time management skills to manage appointments and provide timely services
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods throughout the workday
- Manual dexterity for performing precise facial and body treatments
- Ability to accurately assess client needs and recommend appropriate treatments
- Commitment to maintaining client confidentiality and privacy
- Problem-solving skills and ability to adapt treatments based on skin conditions
Skills & Qualifications
- 1+ years of hands-on experience in spa, salon, or clinical setting
- Advanced certifications in specialized treatments such as microdermabrasion, chemical peels, laser therapy, or microneedling
- Active participation in continuing education courses and industry training
