QA Automation Tester

Project/System/Program OverviewThe Department of Children and Families depends on core, mission‑critical applications, CT‑KIND, Connecticut’s Federally reimbursed CCWIS (Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System). Implemented in 2025 and used by over 2,000 social workers and case managers, the application meets data capture and process functionality requirements driven by good child welfare case practice and State and Federal legislation. The agency also implemented a multi‑faceted outcome‑measure improvement plan addressing twenty‑two (22) outcomes mandated by the Consent Decree.
In 2022 the Agency met and sustained all outcome measures, continuing to do so with IT support.
The agency needs the service of one hands‑on, Quality Assurance Automated Tester. The focus will be to ensure new systems meet functional requirements while maintaining service qualities such as performance, scalability, extensibility, maintainability, security, and interoperability. The tester will also have manual testing experience and will review and improve existing systems, leveraging new technologies and methodologies.
- Follow core technology and architecture for automated testing of large‑scale distributed systems and n‑tier e‑commerce applications.
- Automate testing of applications per specifications.
- Maintain all test‑automation components and required technical documentation.
- Apply end‑to‑end system‑testing strategies.
- Assist in migration and integration of new and legacy technologies.
- Communicate effectively, present findings, and collaborate with stakeholders.
- Deliver business and technical value.
- Be organized, pro‑active, self‑directed, and able to perform with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate strong abstract thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Follow testing standards and strategies correctly.
- Interface with users, sponsors, and other stakeholders to capture evolving needs.
- Maintain up‑to‑date testing libraries and artifacts.
- Create automated test‑case scenarios for the Agile Delivery Team to meet Acceptance Criteria.
Additionally, responsibilities include generating unit tests, regression tests, load tests, code‑coverage reports, ADA/508c/AWGA compliance, cross‑browser and mobile compatibility results, and ensuring testing artifacts remain current.
Required Skills and Experience- 5+ years experience with Azure Dev Ops suite (Boards, Repos, Pipelines, Test Plans, Artifacts).
- 5+ years experience in automated testing with UFT (Unified Functional Testing) and VBScript or another programming language.
- 5+ years experience with automated testing frameworks, manual testing, test methodologies, test strategies, and test beds.
- 5+ years experience with Agile methodologies.
- Experience developing and maintaining UI, backend, API, and hardware test automation.
- Involved in at least two large‑scale Agile software development projects.
- Knowledge of testing tools, frameworks, continuous integration methodologies.
- Knowledge of web application, distributed system, performance, regression, database, mobile, security, accessibility, and web service testing.
- Knowledge of .NET, SharePoint, Salesforce, and application modeling.
- Knowledge of data modeling and database design (preferred).
- Knowledge of service‑oriented architectures.
- Experience with enterprise system integration projects, enterprise integration patterns.
- Understanding of QA best practices, test plans, test cases, issue tracking.
- Good understanding of Dev Ops and continuous integration environments.
- Experience in test‑driven development and testing tools.
- Object‑oriented design principles and patterns.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with QA functional test suites such as UFT.
- Working knowledge of C#, WCF, jQuery, XML, JSON, Web Api, SOAP, .NET, JavaScript.
- Testing experience with REST, SOAP, WCF and tools such as SOAPUI.
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related degree (or equivalent experience).
- Experience with Salesforce, SharePoint, .NET Framework.
- Knowledge of virtualized hosting environments and Mulesoft.
- SQL knowledge.
Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Work schedule:
Full‑time 40 hours, Monday‑Friday 8 AM‑5 PM. This is a hybrid position requiring in‑office presence. The position requires vendor qualification, DCF Child Protection background check, FBI fingerprint background check, and DCF non‑disclosure agreement.
