CNC Milling Setup Machinist – 5-Axis / Fanuc

$24–$34/hr + OT | 1st shift AND 2nd Shift available | New Haven County, CT | Full-Time

Hands-on CNC milling role working with multi-axis machines, tight tolerances, and advanced materials—clean shop, steady work, and growth potential.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Set up and operate 3-axis, 3+2, and 5-axis CNC milling machines
  • Work from blueprints and GD&T to produce precision components
  • Select and install tooling, fixtures, and work holding
  • Perform first article inspections (FAI) and in-process checks
  • Measure parts using micrometers, bore gages, indicators, and other tools
  • Adjust offsets, tooling, feeds, and speeds to maintain quality and efficiency
  • Troubleshoot setup and machining issues on the floor
  • Collaborate with programmers and engineers to improve processes
  • Maintain setup sheets, tooling lists, and documentation
  • Support junior machinists and help maintain a clean, organized workspace
What You Need
  • 5+ years of CNC milling setup experience
  • Strong background with multi-axis machining (3, 3+2, 5-axis)
  • Experience with Fanuc controls (or similar)
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T
  • Experience performing FAI and in-process inspection
  • Knowledge of cutting tools, feeds/speeds, and materials (aluminum, stainless, titanium, alloys)
  • Ability to work from 2D prints and 3D models
Why This Role Stands Out
  • Advanced Machining: Work on multi-axis equipment—not basic setups
  • Variety of Work: Different parts, materials, and setups (no repetition burnout)
  • Stable Shop: Consistent workload and long-term opportunity
  • Team Environment: Collaborative floor with strong technical support
  • Growth Potential: Opportunity to move into programming or lead roles
  • Overtime Available: Increase earnings when you want
Environment
  • Precision manufacturing (aerospace / high-spec work preferred)
  • Clean, organized, quality-driven shop
Work Setup
  • 2nd Shift (Monday–Friday)
  • Full-time, on-site
Benefits
