- Responsible for the administration and supervision of food services programs and procedures at Macassa Lodge.
- Manage food production and ensure establishment and maintenance of quality standards to assure safe and acceptable product delivery to residents or clients.
- Coordinate inventory and procurement of food service supplies, ensuring all products meet specifications required for production and maintain financial controls.
- Supervise the usage of food service supplies and equipment, ensuring careful usage and elimination of waste.
- Assign staff duties and re-allocate staff as required to meet changing requirements.
- Prepare and maintain within budgetary guidelines, time schedules and payroll functions.
- Assist in orientation, training and in‑service programs for food services staff.
- Review, with the Director of Food Services, work performances of food service staff to ensure conformance with established standards and efficient department operation.
- Supervise the work of food services staff in accordance with assigned duties.
- Ensure compliance with local and federal laws and corporate standards, policies and procedures relating to Health & Food Safety practices.
- Assist in therapeutic programs as they relate to nutritional care of the residents.
- Perform quality improvement activities.
- Act in the absence of the Director of Food Services to oversee department operation.
- Maintain cooperation with other departments and foster good relationships with visitors, volunteers and the community.
- Complete quarterly nutrition reviews and scheduled InterRAI assessments for residents at low and moderate nutritional risk.
- Ensure employees are provided with and use appropriate equipment, materials and procedures to perform assigned duties in accordance with health and safety legislation and city policies.
- Recommend appropriate action for employees not compliant with legislation, policies or procedures.
- Perform duties directly related to the responsibilities of the position as assigned.
- Demonstrated experience in food service or nutrition management, normally acquired through completion of post‑secondary education or equivalent experience.
- Member of Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM) or eligible for CSNM designation.
- Minimum three (3) years supervisory experience in a long‑term care setting.
- Previous supervisory experience in a unionised environment.
- Strong background and knowledge of food service production.
- Experience with software programs for food production, resident care documentation, records management and database software.
- Effective leadership, interpersonal and team‑building skills, a positive attitude and ability to engage staff.
- Expertise in managing budget restrictions and staffing issues.
- Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills and ability to meet competing demands.
- Superior customer service and relationship skills with ability to relate well to all levels, including staff, seniors and the general public.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Solid understanding of the Fixing Long Term Care Act (FLTCA) and related regulations, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other applicable regulations as they relate to the position.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word and Excel).
- Salary Grade 4 – $ per annum (exact amount to be determined).
- 35 hours per week.
