Position: Financial Assistant I at City
Become a valued team member as a Financial Assistant I with the City of Hamilton. This role involves essential accounting, budget management, and financial reporting tasks in a dynamic environment.

As a Financial Assistant I, you will support the Finance Manager in various accounting functions related to operational and capital budgets. Responsibilities include reconciling accounts, processing financial data, and assisting with year-end reporting. Additionally, you will maintain contract payments and assist client groups with budget preparation, making analytical skills and attention to detail essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Input and analyze data in computerized accounting systems

• Maintain and coordinate contract payments and purchase orders

• Assist with year-end budget variance analysis and reports

• Prepare monthly complement reports for management review

• Process credit card transactions and monitor accounts for errors

Requirements:

• Business/accounting diploma or equivalent education

• Progressive accounting experience with financial reporting

• Strong communication skills for diverse stakeholders

• Advanced Excel proficiency for financial analysis

• Experience with People Soft/Northgate is an asset
