Job SummaryReporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), the Director, People, Organizational Development and Change is responsible for the strategic direction of the People, Organizational Development and Change team within the Human Resources department, and works collaboratively with Human Resources and all client groups and leaders, to develop and drive an integrated people strategy to successfully attract, retain, develop, and advancing people that supports and enhances organizational capability, and fosters an inclusive workplace culture, building alignment between strategy, structure, practices, processes and systems needed for the College to reach its organization and strategic goals.
The Director will direct, lead and execute the design, development, implementation, delivery and evaluation of College-wide talent management strategies, learning and team development and leadership programming. The incumbent will provide expertise, a framework, direction and process on enterprise-wide people-related change initiatives. This position acts as a coach to assist with performance, conflict resolution, relationship and team building. The position has budget responsibilities across the college including forecasting for learning and development, manages direct reports and has specific department policy oversight.
Human Resource Leadership and Planning
- Actively participates as a member of the HR Leadership Team in providing leadership, planning and decision-making related to the HR functions of the college.
- Provides HR expert advice on various college-wide committees and to senior leadership on matters related to the portfolio.
- Leads and/or collaborates on HR projects and initiatives in support of college-wide plans and strategies.
Strategic Organization Development and Change Management
- Manages, directs, coaches and develops a team of OD professionals while partnering with subject matter experts, Human Resources and partners to develop learning initiatives or specific programs to support the College purpose and strategy.
- Working through strong relationships with the Mohawk Executive Group (MEG), the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), and clients throughout the College, provides direction, and or consultative and advisory services in the identification and analysis of organizational development, change, organizational capacity and the development and implementation of customized organizational development initiatives, ensuring alignment with the college’s strategic plan, vision and values.
- Develops and implements impactful organizational strategies and solutions using design thinking methodologies to address critical program and/or college-wide issues (e.g. talent and team management, key employee retention, succession planning and change management) and supports the college as a high-performing organization by supporting its ability to achieve the business goals.
- Develops and ensures the implementation of appropriate initiatives to improve organizational effectiveness by building individual and collective capacity and capabilities through an overarching learning strategy aligned to the organizational strategic vision and goals.
- Provides expertise, and defines a framework, direction and process on enterprise-wide people related change initiatives.
