RESPONSIBILITIES

The Dollars and Sense Coordinator supports the successful delivery of YWCA Hamilton's financial literacy and financial empowerment programming as part of the national Dollars and Sense initiative. The Coordinator plays a key role in increasing access to financial education, fraud prevention awareness, and economic empowerment opportunities for low-income women, seniors, and gender-diverse individuals across the community. Working closely with the Business Advisory Manager, the Coordinator facilitates workshops, coordinates community outreach and participant engagement activities, supports partnerships and referrals, and helps ensure programming is accessible, trauma-informed, and responsive to community needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinate and deliver financial literacy programming under the Dollars and Sense initiative;
  • Facilitate engaging financial literacy workshops on topics including budgeting, money management, savings, credit, debt management, consumer awareness, government benefits, tax filing supports, financial abuse prevention, and online fraud protection for vulnerable populations, including seniors;
  • Design and facilitate financial literacy workshops for entrepreneurs participating in the
  • Milli Gould Entrepreneurial Centre and Power Up programming;
  • Coordinate and organize community-based income tax clinics, including scheduling, logistics, volunteer coordination, participant registration, and community promotion;
  • Build and maintain partnerships with community agencies, financial institutions, libraries, seniors' organizations, and other stakeholders to increase access to financial education programming;
  • Promote Dollars and Sense programming through community outreach, presentations, networking events, social media, marketing campaigns, and community engagement initiatives;
  • Recruit participants and support intake activities for workshops and financial literacy programming;
  • Develop marketing content including Canva graphics, social media posts, promotional materials, and outreach campaigns in collaboration with the YWCA Hamilton Marketing Department;
  • Coordinate workshop logistics including registrations, participant communications, venue preparation, materials, evaluations, and follow-up activities;
  • Provide participants with information, resources, referrals, and connections to community services that support financial wellbeing;
  • Collect participant information and maintain accurate records in accordance with program and funder requirements;
