Summary Of Duties

Reporting to the Sr. Project Manager – Community Engagement, the Project Manager – Community Engagement and Inclusion provides strategic and operational expertise to support and strengthen the City’s community engagement and communications initiatives through an inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility (IDEA) lens. The Project Manager
- Community Engagement and Inclusion develops and fosters community connections, relationships and partnerships with residents, community organizations, equity-deserving groups and institutions to strengthen community connection, build trust and advance collaborative partnerships across Hamilton.

The Project Manager
- Community Engagement and Inclusion maintains awareness of community events, emerging priorities and opportunities for engagement and collaboration, and actively creates opportunities to engage in conversations with community about matters of interest. The Project Manager researches, implements and effectively communicates engagement best practices, critically analyzes socio-demographic and community data, and provides data analysis support to the Community Initiatives team by identifying trends, developing insights, and summarizing data to support meaningful engagement and decision-making.

Working collaboratively with internal staff and external audiences, the Project Manager
- Community Engagement and Inclusion supports and strengthens community involvement in municipal processes through legislative and non-legislative bodies to advance equitable and positive community relationships and outcomes.

GENERAL DUTIES
  • Perform key project management functions such as planning, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring projects (including public and community/organizational engagement and outreach efforts), developing key messaging and related resources.
  • Research, cultivate, promote, and maintain positive and meaningful relationships with a variety of external partners including community leaders, neighbourhood associations, advocacy groups, community networks/collaboratives, post-secondary institutions, municipalities, and other interested parties for the purposes of ensuring meaningful engagement opportunities are realized.
  • Attend, facilitate and/or lead internal meetings and community events (in-person and online) as a representative of the City of Hamilton’s Community Initiatives team, including facilitation of small group workshops or focus groups, developing and leading presentations, and leading meetings with community and internal decision makers.
  • As required, administer cross-departmental staff tables, related to key projects to ensure internal collaboration and efficiency, as well as realizing consistent engagement outcomes. The Project Manager will facilitate relevant meetings, record meeting notes, track actions and report on project progress.
  • Support staff from across the City to plan and implement awareness and inclusion activities within the broader Hamilton community, including meeting bookings, event planning and other outreach and awareness logistics, as required. Track and monitor program-related expenditures to ensure balanced project budgets.
