Role Description
The General Sales Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Hamilton, ON. This position oversees the daily operations of the sales department, including new and pre-owned vehicle sales, sales processes, and customer experience standards. The General Sales Manager leads, coaches, and mentors the sales team, sets performance targets, and monitors key metrics to ensure sales goals are met or exceeded.

Day-to-day responsibilities include developing sales strategies, managing inventory and pricing, coordinating with service and finance departments, and resolving customer concerns. The role also includes recruiting and training sales staff, implementing dealership policies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and brand requirements.

Qualifications

Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing and coaching sales teams in an automotive or similar retail environment.

Strong sales and negotiation skills, with a track record of meeting or surpassing sales targets and improving department performance.

Excellent customer service, relationship-building, and communication skills, with the ability to handle complex customer issues professionally.

Solid understanding of automotive sales processes, inventory management, pricing strategies, and finance and insurance (F&I) practices.

Proficiency with dealership management systems, CRM tools, and standard office software.

Ability to analyze sales reports, market trends, and performance data to drive strategic decisions.

High level of integrity, accountability, and organizational skills, with attention to detail in documentation and compliance.

Previous experience as a Sales Manager or equivalent role in the automotive industry is strongly preferred.

Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Post-secondary education in business, marketing, or a related field is an asset.
