Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Building Automation Technician to join our dynamic team in Hamilton, Ontario. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of building automation systems, with a strong emphasis on Niagara 4 and other industry-standard platforms. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance and energy efficiency of our clients' building systems.

Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and commission building automation systems (BAS) including controllers, sensors, actuators, and network devices.
  • Program and configure control strategies using Niagara 4 and other platforms (e.g., Tridium, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Siemens).
  • Develop and modify graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for system monitoring and control.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose system malfunctions, providing effective and timely solutions.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of BAS components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure successful project completion.
  • Provide technical support and training to clients as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies in building automation.
  • Adhere to all safety standards and procedures.
  • Document all work performed, including system configurations, troubleshooting steps, and maintenance activities.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience working as a Building Automation Technician.
  • Proven expertise in Niagara 4 framework, including certification (e.g., Niagara 4 Certified Professional) is highly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of other building automation platforms such as Tridium, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Facilities Explorer, Distech, etc.
  • Solid understanding of HVAC systems, electrical systems, and control theory.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and team members.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, BAS Certification, HVAC Technician certification considered an asset.
  • English (required).
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with BACnet, Modbus, and other communication protocols.
  • Knowledge of IT networking principles.
  • Experience with database management and reporting.
  • Familiarity with energy management principles and practices.
