Hydrovac Operator

We are seeking a Hydrovac Operator to perform non-destructive methods of digging, that utilizes water pressure and a vacuum system to quickly and safely expose underground infrastructure.

The Hydrovac Operator will support the lead Civil Construction Supervisor in the execution of daily tasks while maintaining a rigorous commitment to site safety and organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize high-pressure water wands and vacuum systems to excavate around sensitive
    underground utilities (Day lighting).
  • Safely drive and operate Hydrovac units to and from job sites.
  • Perform daily pre-trip inspections and maintain the high-pressure pump, blower, and boiler systems.
  • Able to communicate and work effectively with others. This includes communicating
    respectively with clients and understanding their needs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and identify any potential hazards.
  • Complete Work Order Tickets accurately.
  • Perform basic maintenance on tools and equipment.

Soft Skills &

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to consistently lift, carry, and maneuver materials up to 50 lbs (23 kg) independently.
  • Must be able to lift, pull, and swing vacuum tubes (up to 8 inches in diameter) filled with debris.
  • Ability to stand and operate a high-pressure wand for several hours, resisting the “kickback” force of the water.
  • Constant climbing on/off the truck, bending, and working in awkward positions in trenches.
  • Must work in rain, snow, and mud. In winter, this includes operating “on-board boilers” to thaw frozen ground.

Technical

Skills:

  • Valid Driver’s License, AR OR AZ License would be an asset (Clean Driving Abstract Required)
  • Competitive pay based on experience.

Education: Secondary School / Training (preferred)

Experience: 2 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification: Valid Driver’s Licence (Clean Driving Abstract Required)
