JOB DESCRIPTION

The Mission Support Bureau manages New Jersey’s statewide domestic extremists, foreign terrorist organizations, targeted violence, and hostile foreign intelligence threat intake and coordination process and maintains critical relationships with New Jersey’s public and private-sector partners.

This TES/944/hourly position will function as the NJ Suspicious Activity Reporting Systems (NJSARS) Project Assistant and will be tasked with assisting with various NJSARS projects within the Mission Support Bureau.

The ideal candidate will possess a working knowledge of intelligence, homeland security, or criminal justice, along with strong analytical skills, records management and exceptional attention to detail. This fast-paced role requires the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while collaborating with various members of NJOHSP. The successful candidate must be a team-oriented professional who can adapt quickly to changing priorities and deadlines.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Review, archive, and purge NJSARS records and Contact Log entries in accordance with applicable retention guidelines and policies.
  • Review records for consistency, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Assist with requests for information from internal and external partners.
  • Assist the NJSARS Administrator, SAR Coordinator, Counter-Threat Watch (CT Watch) personnel, CTC Coordinator, Intelligence Analysts, and Detectives assigned to the Intelligence and Operations Division with ad hoc requests and special projects, primarily related to the SAR system and related enhancements.
  • Create SAR products and assessments and brief key findings to senior leadership.

The selected candidate must be available to work 2 – 3 days, Monday to Friday, during the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If a need arises, this position may be assigned to assist the CTWatch desk (West Trenton) during off-hours.

TES/944 employees are limited to working 944 hours in a fiscal year ( July 1 - June 30).

TES/944 employees are not eligible for telework.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester-hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience.

Education/

Experience:
  • Seven (7) years of professional experience in the conduct of civil or criminal investigations related to compliance, enforcement, detection, and surveillance activity, including the preparation of investigative reports.
    OR
  • Seven (7) years of professional experience in the conduct of investigative administrative audits and/or regulatory examinations of records maintained by businesses and organizations.
    OR
  • Seven (7) years of professional experience in the conduct of investigations for the government, the military, consumer protection programs, public advocacy organizations, or the public interest.
    OR
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and three (3) years of the above-mentioned professional experience.
