Adecco is assisting a local client in Hamilton, NJ in their search for a Lead Electro-Mechanical Technician. This is a contract (possible contract to hire) role on 1st Shift – Monday – Friday 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, but with ability to support alternate shifts when required.

Core Responsibilities:

Electrical Systems (50%)
  • Troubleshoot 5V, 12V, and 24

    VDC control systems
  • Diagnose PCB-based machine control boards (power supply, I/O boards, relay boards)
  • Identify failed electrical components such as fuses, capacitors, relays, connectors, regulators, and ICs
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and ladder diagrams
  • Trace PLC inputs and outputs for I/O level diagnostics (no programming required)
  • Diagnose sensors, safety circuits, and interlocks
  • Test and verify power supplies and signal integrity
  • Execute structured electrical preventive maintenance
  • Perform basic soldering and board-level repair when feasible
  • Support electrical upgrades and machine improvements
Mechanical Systems (50%)
  • Troubleshoot pneumatic systems including solenoids, cylinders, regulators, valves, and airlines
  • Repair or replace bearings, belts, chains, couplings, and drive components
  • Perform motor alignment and mechanical adjustments
  • Diagnose mechanical failures causing downtime or quality issues
  • Support equipment rebuilds and mechanical overhauls
  • Maintain conveyors, gearboxes, and drive systems
  • Execute mechanical preventive maintenance tasks
  • Inspect wear components and implement reliability improvements
Production Support & Mechanical Troubleshooting
  • Support production changeovers, ensuring equipment is mechanically prepared for new product runs
  • Troubleshoot mechanical jam-ups, material flow issues, and feed problems
  • Diagnose and correct misalignment, product handling issues, and mechanical causes of line stoppages
  • Support line startup and stabilization after changeovers
Preventive Maintenance & Calibration Support
  • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) tasks in accordance with maintenance schedules and procedures
  • Support calibration activities (CAL) on production and quality equipment as required
  • Ensure PM and CAL tasks are completed accurately and documented in CMMS
  • Identify equipment conditions during PM inspections that could lead to future failures or downtime
  • Maintain PM and calibration completion rates above 95% while ensuring tasks are executed according to documented procedures
Production Coordination & Downtime Response
  • Coordinate directly with the Production Supervisor during equipment failures to prioritize repairs and restore production safely and efficiently
  • Communicate downtime status, root cause, and estimated recovery time to the Plant Manager when failures impact production schedules or exceed normal repair thresholds
  • Support plant leadership in determining recovery actions during extended downtime events
  • Document failure causes and corrective actions in the CMMS to prevent repeat failures
  • Track repeat equipment failures and recommend corrective actions to improve reliability
Lead Technician Responsibilities
  • Serve as escalation point for complex electrical or mechanical failures
  • Mentor and guide junior technicians in structured troubleshooting
  • Improve troubleshooting methodology across the team
  • Reduce repeat equipment failures
  • Enforce LOTO and machine safety standards
  • Ensure Good Documentation Practices (GDP) in regulated manufacturing environments
  • Maintain accurate work orders and repair history in the CMMS
Required Qualifications
  • 1–2 years of industrial maintenance experience
  • Knowledge low-voltage electrical troubleshooting experience (5–24

    VDC systems)
  • Mechanical maintenance experience on automated equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics
