Job Description Hamilton Wenham Regional School District is looking for a highly motivated, student-centered Educational Support Professional (ESP) at Cutler Elementary School. We are seeking a candidate who is flexible and comfortable working directly with students with social, emotional, and/or behavioral challenges. The candidate will perform duties that are instructional in nature and provide support students with acquiring social and behavioral skills.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Instructional Process
  • Works with the teacher in planning and implementing a program of instruction that adheres to the school’s philosophy, goals, and objectives.
  • Works with the teacher in creating a classroom environment conducive to learning by employing a variety of appropriate support strategies.
Classroom Management
  • Works with the teacher in the implementation, in accordance with school guidelines, of reasonable rules of classroom behavior and appropriate techniques that are consistently applied to support learning.
  • Works with the teacher in taking necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Shares responsibility during the school day for the supervision of students in all areas of the school.
Public Relations
  • Upholds and enforces board policy, administrative procedures, and school rules and regulations, and is supportive of them to the public.
  • Maintains appropriate work habits, including regular and punctual attendance, and appropriate use of consultation time.
  • Strives to communicate the positive aspects of our school program to the public in word and deed.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with other staff members.
Professional Growth
  • Continues professional growth through attendance at workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.
  • Attends staff and committee meetings as required.
Student Evaluation
  • Works with the teacher to evaluate student progress through observation of students’ social and behavioral skills and accurate data collection.
  • Works with the teacher in providing appropriate accommodations and modifications across the school setting, as designated by student IEPs and/or behavior plans.
  • Respects the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents, and teachers in accordance with accepted professional ethics, and state and federal laws.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred;
  • Committed to working with a student centered, team-based model required;
  • Ability to lift and position up to 50 pounds required;
  • Able to actively participate in classroom activities that may require bending, lifting and floor time required;
  • Able to support and assist with basic life and self-care skills if necessary.

Welcome to Cutler Elementary School

The Cutler School is one of three elementary schools serving the Hamilton-Wenham Regional School District. We service students from both the towns of Hamilton and Wenham. The Cutler School has an enrollment of approximately 305 students in K-5. The school contains 17 classrooms, a gymnasium for physical education, an all-purpose room for lunch & assemblies, music room, art room, technology center, and a library.

There is a minimum of 3 acres which are divided into play areas of Primary and Intermediate level.
