Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Special Education Paraprofessional at Washington Primary. This part-time position is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs and helping them achieve their educational goals. The Special Education Paraprofessional will work closely with teachers and other staff to provide assistance in the classroom, ensuring an inclusive and supportive environment for all students.

Responsibilities

* Assist the classroom teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.

* Provide one-on-one support to students during instructional activities, helping them to understand and engage with the curriculum.

* Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and participation, reporting any concerns to the teacher.

* Support students in developing social skills and fostering positive relationships with peers.

* Adapt instructional materials and activities to meet the unique needs of students.

* Assist with classroom management and maintain a safe, orderly learning environment.

* Collaborate with special education staff, therapists, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students.

* Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities as required.

* Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or school administration.

Requirements

* High school diploma or equivalent. Two years of study at an institute of higher education preferred.

* Previous experience working with children, particularly those with special needs, is highly desirable.

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

* Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students succeed.

* Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check and comply with all school district policies and procedures.

* Availability to work part-time hours, as determined by the school schedule.
