NOTICE OF POSITION OPENING
EARLY CHILDHOOD SPECIAL EDUCATION (ECSE) EARLY ON TEACHER
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
Responsible for providing support and training to families/caregivers in the development of skills designed to foster early childhood development and to address developmental delays of children within the natural environment
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned.
* Plan and direct learning activities for children based upon parent/caregiver identified needs.
* Diagnose specific needs, plan and carry out individualized programs for each child.
* Develop and model behavioral intervention strategies based upon parent/caregiver identified needs.
* Consult and coordinate instruction, behavioral interventions and other services with other personnel who serve the child.
* Engage in evaluation, assessment and screening of students on an as needed basis.
* Establish and maintain appropriate records, reports and procedures including, but not limited to, home visits/lesson plans & activities, behavioral data and student progress on IFSP and IEP goals/objectives.
* Collaborate with other professional staff working with family.
* Travel to meet job requirements.
* Coordinate and conduct IFSP and IEP meetings.
* Provide training for parents, Early Interventionists and other staff as appropriate.
* Provide prereferral consultation.
* Use various software packages for communication and documentation purposes.
* Maintain regular consistent attendance and punctuality.
* Maintain a professional personal appearance.
* Adhere to district health and safety procedures.
* Adhere to Board Policies.
* Maintain confidentiality.
EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE:
Must meet Michigan Department of Education requirements for endorsements on teaching certificates or temporary approval.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with: ZA with a SE Endorsement on certificate, or ZS endorsement on certificate (does not require a SE endorsement), or ZA with major or minor in Early Childhood with a SE endorsement, or Temporary or continuing temporary approval.
