Supports student learning and well-being through data analysis, interventions, and collaboration under the supervision of a certified school psychologist.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Data-based decision making:
Collect, analyze and utilize statistical data to identify student strengths, needs, and collaborate Child Study Teams or IEP teams to recommend or identify appropriate interventions.
● Consultation and collaboration:
Work with school staff and families to promote student growth. Utilize communication and interviewing skills to gather data and make recommendations.
● Academic intervention and instructional supports:
Collaborate on and/or provide evidence based interventions to promote academic skill development in students.
● Mental and Behavioral health services and intervention:
Collaborate on and/or provide evidence based social and emotional interventions to promote student's mental health and positive behavior.
● School-wide practices to promote learning:
Assist school psychologists in the Multi-Tiered System of Support efforts in the local school districts.
● Services to promote safe and supportive schools:
Support school-wide and class-wide positive behavior support interventions that enhance learning.
● Family, school, and community collaboration:
Collaborate and coordinate between families and schools. Including gathering family information, responding according to culture and context, and facilitate family and school partnerships and interactions with community agencies.
● Equitable practices for diverse student populations:
Incorporating evidence-based strategies promote effective services in congruence with a student's unique and diverse population variables.
● Research and evidence-based practice:
In consultation with teachers, leaders and staff, use skills related to research design, statistics, measurement, and varied data collection and analysis to support the understanding of research, interpreting data, and evaluating programs in applied settings.
● Legal, Ethical, and Professional Practice:
Engage in responsive legal and ethical and professional decision making,
● Attend department meetings and meetings as requested by immediate supervisor.
● Organize, electronically enter data, and file protocols and other evaluation documents created by School Psychologists.
● Under supervision, complete assessments that they are qualified to perform.
● Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM PROFESSIONAL
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Possess a Bachelor's Degree (or its equivalent) in education or related discipline
● Have a plan to become a School Psychologist and be enrolled in a school psychology program that leads to certification as a school psychologist in Michigan.
PERSONAL
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
● Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to support decision-making
● Knowledge of current research and evidence-based practices in education and psychology
● Proficiency with technology and educational software to support assessments and interventions
● Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families, and school staff
