Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Hamilton School District. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment that supports the diverse needs of students with disabilities. This full-time position requires collaboration with educators, parents, and support staff to create tailored educational experiences that promote academic and social growth for all students.

Hamilton School District will apply all verified years of teaching experience towards placement on the salary schedule.

Responsibilities

* Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

* Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curricula and teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.

* Assess students' progress and modify instructional techniques to ensure effective learning outcomes.

* Provide direct instruction and support to students in both one-on-one and small group settings.

* Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.

* Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to discuss student progress, challenges, and strategies for support.

* Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of educational plans for students.

* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, behavior, and progress towards IEP goals.

* Stay informed about best practices in special education and participate in ongoing professional development.

* Advocate for the needs and rights of students with disabilities within the school community.

Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field;
Master's degree preferred.

* Valid state certification in Special Education.

* Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting.

* Strong knowledge of IEP development and implementation.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* Ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and community members.

* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

* Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

* Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance instruction.

* Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check per school board policy.
