Salary: $195,000-$215,000 based on experience

Summary:

The Director of Teaching and Learning serves as a key instructional leader for the district, advancing a coherent vision for high-quality teaching and learning in partnership with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment. The position ensures that curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning are tightly aligned to district goals and state standards to promote equitable outcomes for all students.

Qualifications:

* Master's or advanced degree in relevant field;
Ed.D or Phd preferred

* Illinois Professional Educator License with General Administrative or Principal endorsement; registered with Lake ROE

* Minimum of five years' experience in school leadership and teaching experience

* Expertise in supervision and evaluation of teachers;
Qualified Evaluator Certification

* Experience in designing and implementing professional development programs

* Ability to write with clarity, assemble and organize data, and prepare reports

* Knowledge and experience related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment

* Knowledge and experience related to educational research and data analysis

* Exemplary interpersonal and effective communication skills

* Demonstration of collaborative leadership

Essential Functions:

District and leadership responsibilities

* Partners with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment to define and advance the district's instructional vision and teaching and learning standards in alignment with the strategic plan.

* Serves as an active member of the district administrative team, contributing to system-level planning, problem solving, and decision-making.

* Serves as an ad hoc member of the Deerfield and Highland Park High School Leadership Teams, providing leadership, consultation, and support as needed.

Professional learning

* Designs and leads a coherent vision for the district's professional development program for all staff, integrating strategic priorities, departmental goals, and training needs into a balanced, comprehensive learning plan.

* Coordinates district wide professional learning with department leaders, building department chairs, instructional coaches, and mentoring coordinators to ensure alignment between district initiatives and department goals.

* Coordinates professional development on district priorities, including Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)

* Partners with the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment to plan and administer in-school professional development, including workshops, job-embedded learning, and Institute Day agendas, including opening-of-school activities.

* Oversees the Instructional Coaching program

* Monitors ISBE curriculum mandates and updates, collaborating with department leaders to ensure timely, high-fidelity implementation.

* Directs the LSM Mentoring Program in collaboration with the Chief Human Resources Officer and Mentoring Coordinators.

* Collaborates with Human Resources to support teacher licensure requirements, including professional development aligned to renewal needs.

* Engages in ongoing professional growth through participation in professional organizations, conferences, and advanced coursework to remain current with research and best practices.

Curriculum and instruction

* Actively participates in the District and Building Level Instructional Leadership Teams, helping to set strategic instructional agendas for department leaders and in collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.
