Summary:
The Tier I Instructional Coach will work collaboratively with teachers across departments and course teams to enhance Tier 1 instruction by implementing universal design for instructional planning, high-leverage instructional strategies and evidence-based instructional strategies, and restorative practices for fostering increased social and emotional wellness of students. The coach will engage in modeling, co-teaching, and instructional coaching cycles to strengthen core instruction and ensure equitable learning experiences for all students.
This position requires a strong commitment to fostering professional growth among teachers and improving student outcomes through research-based instructional practices.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field required
* Master's degree preferred.
* Professional Educators License (PEL) required. PEL with EL, bilingual, LBS1 or social work endorsements highly preferred.
* Proficiency in integrating technology and AI tools into instruction.
* Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience at the secondary level.
* Experience working with English learners and implementing the WIDA Framework.
* Familiarity with UDL, differentiated instruction, and co-teaching models.
* Proven ability to lead professional development and support adult learners.
* The role requires flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to fostering student success.
* Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional growth and collaboration.
Essential Functions:

Instructional Coaching and Collaboration
* Conduct daily coaching cycles, including modeling, co-teaching, and providing actionable feedback to teachers.
* Develop departmental and course team coaching schedules to ensure consistent and continuous support across buildings.
* Co-plan lessons with individual teachers and teams, utilizing the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) 3.0 Framework.
* Provide support for course teams utilizing the 22 high leverage practices outlined for strong tier I instruction.
* Utilize restorative practices to support teachers in the growth and development of the social and emotional well-being of students.
* Offer support in implementing differentiated instruction, co-teaching models, social and emotional learning supports and strategies for multilingual learners and students with disabilities.
Professional Development
* Lead professional learning sessions focused on improving Tier 1 instructional and behavioral scaffolds and strategies for diverse learners within departments and individual course teams.
* Provide departmental professional learning experiences that leverage both the universal design for learning framework and high leverage instructional practices for strong tier 1 support in classroom spaces.
* Provide professional learning experience with co-teachers, leaning into a variety of co-teaching models and strategies to support a diverse student population.
* Provide teacher support for social and emotional learning strategies that support the development of the core five SEL competencies in students.
* Provide training on leveraging technology tools and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance instruction and improve access for all students.
Data Collection and Analysis
* Collect data on coaching cycles and teacher feedback, maintaining accurate records for analysis and instructional planning.
* Collaborate with department chairs from instructional leadership teams to present data, identify trends, and develop targeted plans for departments and course teams within departments.
* Support teachers in pulling and triangulating data from a variety of sources to effectively group students for skill-based development.
Multilingual & Diverse Learner Support
* Knowledge of the Universal Design for Learning and comfortable initiating coaching cycles with course teams grounded in specific strategies to promote inclusive school communities.
* Support a variety of co-teaching models and strategies for providing access points to curriculum and instruction for diverse learners.
* Works with teachers to identify the assets and preferred learning styles for diverse learners in the tier I space.
* Demonstrate an understanding of the WIDA 2020 Framework and English learner proficiency levels across all domains.
* Support teachers in designing and implementing small-group instruction tailored to the needs of English learners in core courses.
