Health Occupations Students Of America (HOSA) Coach
Hamilton High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to assist in coaching the Health Occupations Students Of America (HOSA) program. The ideal candidate will support the head coach in developing students' skills in healthcare-related competitions, fostering a passion for health sciences, and promoting leadership and teamwork among participants. This position requires a commitment to student development and an understanding of the healthcare field.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the head coach in planning and implementing training sessions, workshops, and practice competitions.
- Mentor and guide students in their preparation for HOSA competitions, ensuring they understand competition rules and requirements.
- Collaborate with the head coach to create a positive and inclusive team environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
- Help organize and coordinate events, including fundraising activities, community service projects, and competitions.
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance their skills and confidence.
- Maintain communication with students, parents, and school administration regarding team activities and progress.
- Stay informed about current trends and advancements in healthcare to provide relevant coaching and guidance.
- Assist in the recruitment of new team members and promote the HOSA program within the school and community.
Requirements:
- A strong interest in health sciences, healthcare careers, or related fields.
- Previous experience in coaching, mentoring, or working with students in an educational setting is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their goals and develop their skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Familiarity with HOSA and its competition structure is a plus.
- Must be able to commit to the schedule of practices, competitions, and events throughout the academic year.
- CPR/First Aid certification is preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check per school board policy.
