Accounting & Finance Direct Hire Recruiter at firstProfirstPRO is seeking an experienced Assistant Financial Controller for a temporary-to-permanent position with a well-established nonprofit organization with a $75M budget. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled accounting professional to work closely with the Controller in a collaborative and supportive environment.
The ideal candidate will bring strong nonprofit accounting expertise, supervisory experience, and familiarity with Accounts Payable, Representative Payee, and Fee-for-Service processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee assigned accounting functions and ensure compliance with internal controls.
- Manage general ledger processes, bank reconciliations, and cash flow reporting.
- Handle cash management activities including ACH transfers, deposits, and transaction recording.
- Maintain accurate general ledger detail to support financial reporting.
- Oversee accounting related to property management, including rent schedules, receivables, and transaction tracking.
- Provide supervision for AP, Representative Payee, and Fee-for-Service processes.
- Lead and mentor staff including Staff Accountants, Billing Specialists, and Accounting Assistants.
- Support audits and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- Minimum 5 years’ accounting and finance experience in a complex nonprofit environment with multiple funding sources (including fee-for-service and managed care).
- Experience managing multiple companies/subsidiaries and tracking intercompany transactions.
- Strong accounting and financial reporting background with knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting software required (Netsmart MyEvolv a plus).
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
