Regulatory Compliance Specialist
This opportunity is for an energetic and innovative professional to manage multiple client account Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) programs for the Oil & Gas sector. The role is full‑time, based in the United States, and reports to the Earth & Environment HSE Director.
The US O&G HSE Manager position is an internally focused role that facilitates consistent safety performance and delivery for key client accounts across a geographic portfolio. This role develops internal and external strategic partnerships that bolster WSP’s implementation of a World Class Safety Program.
Responsibilities- Provide highly visible project‑level support for compliance with client requirements.
- Build relationships with local operations leaders and client HSE peers.
- Verify and audit compliance with client requirements, including implementation of practices, KPI tracking, and reporting procedures.
- Develop and administer client‑specific HSE training as needed.
- Attend client meetings, safety forums, and events corresponding to level of responsibility.
- Participate in contract preparation and RFI/RFP development.
- Lead incident investigations, support care management, and prepare deliverables in compliance with client incident reporting requirements.
- Oversee the corrective action assignment and completion process.
- Provide HSE performance reports to Client Leadership Team and other stakeholders as requested.
- Manage the implementation of client‑specific campaigns, updates, and changes to requirements.
- Facilitate the cascading of global and regional client communications, including WSP corporate alerts and client‑provided focus areas.
- Develop safety campaigns appropriate for the work in the region.
- Update project team performance to the client at the regional level.
- Proactively alert WSP teams across regions when an incident is incurred and share findings.
- Develop client‑compliant documentation, templates, and tools to bridge client, WSP, and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate regularly with business operation leads and the corporate safety team.
- Support subcontractor prequalification and management.
- Support local operations with internal workforce coordination and management.
- Complete targeted site visits, project safety reviews, and other verification activities.
- Interface with regional WSP corporate HSEQ team to stay aligned with corporate policies, procedures, and tools.
- Responsible for staffing of HSE personnel required to support projects within the region.
- Assess continuous improvement needs, develop action plans, and monitor implementation and effectiveness.
- Conduct project‑specific pre‑work hazard assessment and mitigation planning support.
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher, preferably in Occupational Health, Safety, Engineering, or Environmental Sciences.
- Professional designation (OHST, ASP, CSP, PE, CIH) preferred.
- Completion of or eligibility for 40‑hour HAZWOPER training, 8‑hour HAZWOPER supervisor training, and OSHA 10/30 training (500/501 trainer). Preferred.
- 7+ years of combined experience in HSE.
- Working knowledge of related U.S. regulations (OSHA, CFR, etc.).
- Experience with hazard identification, development of HSE controls, and incident investigation.
- Experience in consulting engineering, construction, mining, or oil and gas sectors – a benefit.
- Experience with recognized management systems (ISO 45001, ISO 14001) – a benefit.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, training experience, and analytical ability.
- Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Self‑starter and highly motivated.
- Available for business travel and extended working hours when required.
- Fitness for duty to visit various project sites, including uneven terrain, confined spaces, and diverse climates.
- Valid automobile insurance and driver’s license required.
- Offer contingent upon background check, motor vehicle report, and drug/alcohol screening.

CompensationExpected salary: $91,900.00 – $ for all locations.
