The Position (Associate Director, Trade & Tariffs)
Responsibilities:

  • Advise leadership with insights and recommendations for trade, tariff, supply chain, manufacturing, and sourcing decisions.
  • Lead high-impact U.S. and global trade/tariff initiatives; develop strategies aligned to regulatory requirements and enterprise value.
  • Lead risk management, governance, and continuous improvement for trade and tariff capabilities.
  • Monitor and interpret evolving trade developments; provide timely executive insights on risks/opportunities.
  • Act as subject matter expert for U.S. trade, tariffs, customs, and cross-border planning.
  • Analyze trade legislation, tariff regimes, customs requirements, and international developments.
  • Partner cross-functionally to execute initiatives while maintaining compliance and governance.
  • Influence business decisions by integrating trade/tariff considerations into product lifecycle, supply chain, sourcing, and market expansion.
  • Drive continuous improvement using technology, analytics, automation, and process enhancements.
Qualifications (Required / Preferred):
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred fields: Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain, International Trade, or related).
  • Highly desired: advanced degree, licensed customs broker credential, CPA, or other relevant certification.
  • 10+ years’ relevant experience (corporate trade, tariffs, customs, supply chain, finance, public accounting, consulting, law firm, or private industry) with increasing responsibility.
  • Strongly preferred: U.S. trade/tariffs/customs/import compliance and cross-border transaction experience.
  • Preferred: pharmaceutical/life sciences/medical device/regulated industry experience.
  • Ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives in a matrix; influence without authority.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, documentation, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; aptitude for databases/spreadsheets/analytics and trade or tax technology; ERP/trade systems (e.g., SAP GTS, S/4

    HANA) desirable.
  • Strong written/oral communication; translate technical matters for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Executive presence, business judgment, learning agility; independent judgment, confidentiality, and proper risk escalation.
Physical requirements:
  • 0–10% overnight travel; office-based collaboration across time zones.
Compensation/Benefits:
  • Base compensation range: $152,700–$267,300; eligible for company bonus.
