Responsibilities
  • Replacement for teachers on a leave of absence
  • Length of positions may vary
Requirements
  • Valid NJ Instructional Certificate (Teacher of ESL)
  • Knowledge/experience with WIDA Standards and NJ Student Learning Standards for ELA
  • Knowledge/experience with ACCESS Testing
  • Knowledge of Charlotte Danielson's Framework for Teaching (a plus)
  • Ability to apply and turnkey Can Do Descriptors
  • Knowledge of best practices in working with MLs (e.g., Sheltered English Instruction)
  • Understanding of the needs of Newcomers
  • Knowledge of Google Apps for Education
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with fellow department members (as well as other instructional staff)
  • Demonstrates detail in required paperwork, documentation, etc.
  • Bilingual (a plus)
  • Additional certification (Teacher of Bilingual/Bicultural) - a plus
  • Successful clearance of criminal history

    All Substitutes must be BOE approved

  • Days 1-20 - $130.00 a day

Benefits

Leave replacement teachers receive benefits after 5 consecutive months of working (single health benefits). In addition to the base salary, eligible employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, including medical/vision, prescription and dental insurance, and paid time off.
