Description

Janicki Industries is an innovative, family-owned aerospace company located at the foot of the Cascades. We focus on engineering and manufacturing complex projects for companies in the aerospace, defense, and space industries.
We are looking for a Cost Estimator to join our growing team.

This position is located on-site in Hamilton, Washington State.

Pay or shift range: $83,000 to $104,000 USD. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job‑related reasons.

Position Description

Cost Estimators are the analytical pathfinders of Janicki’s projects, bridging the gap between complex customer requirements and actionable manufacturing contracts. You will be a part of a team focused on some of the largest and most complex composite & metallic aerospace products in industry.

You will work across multiple engineering disciplines to evaluate technical specifications, engineer cost‑based solutions, guide high‑level manufacturing plans, and author detailed technical proposals. The Cost Estimator is responsible for the accuracy of project scoping and must thrive in a detail-oriented environment with strict timelines.

Responsibilities
  • Perform complex aerospace manufacturing estimating activities; develop, analyze, evaluate, coordinate, prepare, and support cost proposals to US Government customers.
  • Review Requests for Proposals (RFP) and proposal documents for compliance with customer specifications/requirements and adherence to company policy.
  • Review project requirements with Program Management, Business Management, Design, Operations, and Engineering to determine precise material, labor, and equipment needs.
  • Analyze 3D geometry, engineering drawings, specifications, and Statements of Work (SOW) to determine manufacturing feasibility and technical risk assessments.
  • Prepare and present cost estimates to management, customer representatives, and government audit agencies.
  • Analyze to‑date actuals and completed project costs to refine cost calculators and develop standardized templates for future estimating accuracy.
  • Review scope definition and changes with customers to ensure clarity and accuracy.
  • Ensure adherence to FAR and DFARS, Truth in Negotiations Act (TINA), and Janicki policies and procedures regarding cost proposal preparation, review, compliance, submission, updates/revisions, and negotiations.
Required

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 2+ years’ hands‑on experience in manufacturing or construction or aerospace.
  • Understanding of cost/schedule estimating principles.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
Additional Requirements
  • Applicants must be a US Citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
  • Position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance. Janicki will assist with gaining this access once employed. Special Access Program or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory and require that the candidate agrees to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in business, finance, sales, or project management.
  • Experience with 3D CAD Software (CATIA, NX Unigraphics, etc.).
  • Experience evaluating technical drawings.
  • Experience in Pricing and Estimating; preparing and presenting sales proposals to internal and external customers.
  • Experience with aerospace processes and industry terminologies.
  • Working understanding of FAR and DFARS requirements.
Additional Information
  • Salary range for this role is between $83,000 – $125,000, plus discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off‑shifts. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job‑related and non‑discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.
