Vanguard Theater Company is seeking Music Directors for our Summer stock sleepaway program. We’re looking for collaborative, energetic, and community-minded artists who are passionate about working with young performers in fast‑paced musical theater environments.

Elmer, NJ

July 30 - August 17, 2026
Compensation: $2000
Ages: 12-19
(Housing & meals provided – residential program)
Shows available:
We Are The Tigers, Spelling Bee, Spring Awakening

This position takes place at a sleepaway camp serving campers ages 12–19. Music Directors live on-site for the full duration of the program and should be excited by a fully immersive, fast‑paced, and intensive camp‑based theater experience.

Full availability for the entire program is required.

• July 30–31:
  Offsite training in Montclair
• August 1:
  Onsite training begins in Elmer
• August 2:
  Campers arrive

• Have 3+ years of music direction experience (with MUSICALS)
• Are comfortable working with performers ages 12–19
• Thrive in collaborative, high‑energy environments
• Are excited by immersive, community‑oriented summer work
• Have completed at least two years of college or have two full years graduated from high school
