Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Make a Difference in the Lives of Others
Job Summary:
Guided Steps NJ Corp is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. As a DSP, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, empowering them to reach their individualized goals and live their best lives. Responsibilities:- Assist individuals with daily living tasks such as hygiene, meal preparation, and transportation
- Provide direct support and assistance to individuals with disabilities in their daily activities
- Assist with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Support individuals in developing and maintaining independent living skills
- Implement individualized care plans and document progress
- Assist with medication administration as needed
- Provide transportation to appointments, community outings, and recreational activities
- Foster a safe and supportive environment for individuals with disabilities
- Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver's license with less than 5 points
- Must have and maintain a reliable vehicle, valid auto registration, and insurance
- Ability to pass State, Federal, and drug tests
- Completion of required DSP training
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a similar caregiving role (At least 1 year)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate and patient demeanor
- CPR and first aid certification required
- Ability to lift/push/pull 30 lbs.
- Experience with ABA-based interventions
- Data collection and reporting skills (Boggs Center PBIS training or equivalent training preferred)
