Southern Locations:
Egg Harbor, Camden, Hamilton, Washington Twp. The Bus Service person is responsible for checking and maintaining of all NJ TRANSIT buses for daily services. CDL Training provided! Join our Team!

Under the direction of the Superintendent or General Foreman, a Bus Service person is responsible for checking and maintaining of all NJ TRANSIT buses for daily services. Report any damages or repairs needed as directed by the supervisor.

• Check bus fluids and maintain required levels
• Change fluids
• Clean inside and around buses
• Shift and drive buses in and around the garage
• Steam engines
• Change tires (utilizing the appropriate equipment)
• Complete forms required in carrying out duties of the position

• NJ TRANSIT’s Surface Transit Training Department offers comprehensive job-related training for all Service persons new hires. This may include, but is not guaranteed, support in obtaining a Commercial Learner Permit (CLP) or a Commercial Driver License (CDL)

• Light professional mechanical experience preferred; diesel experience a plus but not required
• Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age
• Possess a valid NJ Driver’s License with three (3) years of driving experience
• Must be eligible to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement or possess a valid NY/PA CDL with Passenger and Airbrake endorsement***
• Be able to work any shift in keeping with seniority-based scheduling. Hours vary depending upon the Bus Garage.
• Be able to pass the pre-employment physical and background checks
• Have a good driving record with less than five (5) points

• $6,000 Signing Bonus for CDL A or B License Holders (must have air brake and passenger endorsement) at time of hire*
• $3,000 Signing Bonus for all newly hired Service persons*
