Position: Information Technology (IT) Intern

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented IT Intern to join our on-site team at our TIO2 processing plant in Hamilton, MS. This internship provides hands‑on experience in an industrial IT environment. The intern will provide day‑to‑day technical support, maintain hardware, and manage the IT ticketing system.

Responsibilities
  • Set up, configure, and deploy desktop computers, laptops, monitors, printers, and peripherals for end users across the site.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware faults, arranging repairs or replacements as needed.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on IT equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Support the installation and replacement of hardware components.
  • Liaise with vendors regarding warranty repairs and equipment returns.
  • Assist in setting up workstations for new staff, relocations, and temporary users on the shop floor.
  • Ensure all work is fully documented in the IT ticketing system (Jira).
  • Demonstrate Tronox Core Values.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Previous experience in technical support, helpdesk, or IT administration (even informal or voluntary) preferred.
  • Solid foundational understanding of PC hardware components.
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
  • Good organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Willingness to work on‑site in a manufacturing environment and follow safety training.
  • Clear and professional communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Excellent customer service skills and positive attitude.
  • Familiarity with asset management or ticketing systems.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be clean‑shaven where facial hair would interfere with a respirator.
  • Occasionally ascend/descend stairs and move within the work area.
  • Occasional prolonged stationary periods, standing or sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Constantly walk long distances between work sites.
  • Occasionally lift or move objects up to 20 pounds in all directions.
